How Do I Register to Vote in Tennessee?

What ID Do I Need to Vote?

There are a few different IDs you can bring with you to the polls, even if they're expired. Namely:

  • Tennessee driver license with your photo
  • United States Passport
  • Photo ID issued by the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security
  • Photo ID issued by the federal or Tennessee state government
  • United States Military photo ID
  • Tennessee handgun carry permit with your photo

If you are voting for the first time, and your ID is expired, just bring a copy of a current utility bill with your name and address in addition to your expired ID.

For more info on unaccepted IDs, to get a free ID from the Department of Homeland Security, or what to do if you don't have a photo ID for any reason, visit: https://sos.tn.gov/products/elections/what-id-required-when-voting

Take Action on Legislation

We love some apps over at Live Here Vote Here- a couple of our favorites are 5 Calls and Countable, two great ways to keep up with what your legislators are voting on and make it easy to get in touch with them.
